Hello, I'm Briana this is my story
I was born in Perth WA, and have been fortunate to have lived in Darwin, Geraldton, San Francisco, London, and Ballina NSW.
Growing up the outdoors and sport was what I loved. I played AFL and achieved my second Dan black belt in Taekwondo. I competed at state, national and international competitions. This lead to being a volunteer at Sydney Olympics for taekwondo.
I have been a swimming teacher since 1997 and this has taken me all around the world, developing programs and coordinating swim schools in Perth. I founded Ballina Swim School in 2019. I love teaching and inspiring swimming and water safety. I presented AUSTSWIM courses in Perth.
I love products and worked in menswear for 6 years, before managing an outdoor store in London while I was living there. My store improved so much I was a finalist in Retail Week Magazines – Manager of a small store awards night on Park Lane in 2007.
Moving back to Perth after a debilitating back injury that required surgery. I worked in Occupational Health and Safety for 5 years, with the last few years working on various mine sites. I was trained in emergency response.
After years of ongoing chronic injuries I completed a cert Iv fitness and many workshops to rehabilitate my own body. I started Ballina Kids fitness in 2020 as a sister program to swim school. It is an amazing inclusive program for kids of all abilities.
I have completed the NEIS program twice and attended many workshops for small business. Networking, connecting and collaborating with small businesses has inspired Northern Rivers Business Collective and Love Local Northern Rivers.
September 2020 I started Sourdough Business Pathways pre accelerator program for small business. This was an amazing program and has lead to Love Local Artisan Boxes launching in 2021.
I met my partner in Perth in April 2016 and we have developed our relationship and established a beautiful life together in Ballina. I am so grateful for meeting Chris, the most loving and caring person.
We lost our husky Tyson unexpectedly June 2020, and Makalu has taken time adjusting to having all the attention while missing our adventures with our favourite snuggler.
